Most folks have heard this story. The neat part here is this is not just a story but actual history. If you are unfamiliar with it, know this: At the greatest test of a truly faithful servant of over 50 years, Daniel was saved by his unending Faith. He left the lion's den protected and unharmed.
There are many important themes and points to understand about this story and I highly recommend the reading of The Book of Daniel (Chapter 6) for those who need a refresher. But the bottom line is we all go through difficult times but Faith can endure all trials.
Why this story today? In early August? And how does this relate to your accounts and the stock market? Well I'm glad you asked.
This year has moved in waves. After a good start, a rough pair of months, and a nice recovery, we have started to see a few kinks in the armor. As we move into August, the normal course of action is often dictated by traders on vacation and unknown expectations of the upcoming Fed meetings. This year will be no different. And what's more, we have a Fed that is not necessarily sure what it will do. Time will tell, leading into October. But the concern may grow and the volatility of the market could very well follow. Yet, during the test upcoming, keep the Faith.
We have already begun adjustments to portfolios and plan to continue to do so. There are some areas that still appear attractive and other areas the are a bit of a concern. We aim to remain diversified and be active to keep up with what may come.
Our test ahead is nothing like being thrown into the lion's den. It may cause some unsteady nerves and some battles of your mind. But just like Daniel, you have someone to help!
Thanks for your trust and let us know how we can be of service to you. And continue to follow our specific thoughts in our monthly video series starring Jake and Brian!
