Overcoming the Bad with Good

Continuing the theme from the last post, it seems easy in our world today to see things as Good vs Evil. Movie themes are build around this concept. While this is part of life, and evident in many ways, it's also our chance to focus on the good, and use it to overcome the bad.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good", says Paul in Romans 12:21. And I believe with this attitude, in all areas of life, we can see the positive even in the worst of situations.

When it comes to my experience as a Financial Advisor for over 25 years, I can attest to the validity of this statement. There are many things that work on our minds to create worry and fear. And when it comes to your money and your future security, it can easily compound. Especially when the headlines are what they are lately. With the most recent war at hand, it is easy to focus on the bad. But by looking at the good, there are usually bright spots around the corner when it comes to your portfolio.

No one can see what's ahead, but experience at EWM has taught us that turning points in the market are normal. Our job is to do our best to work to protect your goals from negativity and headline risk. With that and by looking back at the past few posts, you will see we have been adjusting portfolio holdings behind the scenes ahead of this latest news. By owning what we believed to be 'good' so far in 2026, we have pushed our portfolios ahead of the curve this year. And with that blessing, we have recently adjusted to a more defensive stance. For details, including the latest gains we have taken and the increase in fixed income holdings, see our latest video update "Top Down Bottom Up" for March. Our plan is to continue to remain patient as the 'bad' unfolds and continue to seek what is 'good' for your portfolio as the expected volatility continues.

Our expectation for the full year 2026 remains the same as previously stated; expect volatility and frustration over the course of most of the year with a period of better price movement later in the year. Until that time, hang in there and contact us if the bad outweighs the good in your mind!

Thanks for your trust and blessings to you and yours!
